LinkedIn, has made its lighter and nimble version of the popular business networking site available to this region including Malaysia. The lighter version of LinkedIn is faster and simpler to use, targeting for more for professionals and students who are constantly on their mobile than a desktop.
Currently, 3 million users in Malaysia use the service, with features such as newsfeed, profile, networks, messaging, and notifications, LinkedIn Lite is aimed at the mobile internet segment of the population and can even performs on 2G network.
“Besides providing a fast, data-light solution for professionals in slow network areas, we hope the LinkedIn Lite app will democratize access to economic opportunity,” said Akshay Kothari, Country Manager and Head of Product, LinkedIn India. “We recognise that no matter how good, valuable and beneficial a product is, all is lost when people can’t use it. Since its first launched in India, LinkedIn Lite has made remarkable strides growing in downloads, many users use the service to post their resume and is used by companies to get recommendation on suitable candidates.
