All Jaguars and Land Rovers releasing after 2020 will also come with an electric option. This is the company’s commitment to electrification, demonstrated with new electric models from Jaguar’s past, present and future at inaugural Tech Fest event. The Tech Fest is a series of debates and a free public exhibition about the future of mobility.

Dr Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover Chief Executive Officer, said: “Every new Jaguar Land Rover model line will be electrified from 2020, giving our customers even more choice. We will introduce a portfolio of electrified products across our model range, embracing fully electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles. Our first fully electric performance SUV, the Jaguar I-PACE, goes on sale next year.”

The Jaguar I-PACE is designed from the ground up, tailored to be a pure electric performance SUV for everyday practicality. The vehicle is expected to go on sale next year. Besides new designs, some of its classic designs also gets a electric upgrade with Jaguar E-type Zero. Based on a 1968 Series 1.5 Roadster, the vehicle comes with an electric powertrain for 0-60mph in just 5.5sec.

Beyond the present, the company also envision the future of cars after 2040, exploring concept vehicles revolving around fully autonomous technology, as well as shared ownership. One of the concepts involve a steering wheel called Sayer that doubles as an AI assistant as well, fitted with speech recognition software to allow it to answer questions, connect to the news, organise travel and entertainment.
