Win Down Payment for a Home with PropertyGuru “My Dream Home” Contest

PropertyGuru launches its “My Dream Home” contest with a RM50,000 prize money. The cash is aimed at helping Malaysians with the initial down payment when purchasing a home, which many struggle to afford.

“PropertyGuru’s My Dream Home contest looks to provide every eligible Malaysian a decent shot at owning a home,” said Sheldon Fernandez, Country Manager of PropertyGuru Malaysia. “Residential homes in Malaysia are severely unaffordable, with prices hovering at 5.5 times the median income. RM50,000 goes a long way into helping one achieve their goal, especially in paying for the down payment, legal fees and moving costs associated with buying a property,” he added.

Participants will need to find their dream home on PropertyGuru New Launches or PropertyGuru Project Reviews, submit an enquiry to the developer of choice and to make a booking payment, to start the process on entering the “My Dream Home” contest.

The website hosts over 480 project reviews, giving in depth analysis about each project, ranging from the background of the developer, the offering of the new development, special features, selling price and details of the homes being offered. Locations are varied, including popular searches such as Ampang, Ara Damansara and Bukit Bintang, as well as other states such as Penang, featuring properties in Batu Feringhi, Georgetown and Johor, with locations in Medini and Skudai.

Fernandez shares that the best way of getting on the property ladder is by understanding the location, history of the developer, as well as affordability. PropertyGuru gives information about the project, 3D visuals and artist impression of each development, making it easier for consumers to visualise what would be suitable, as well as what is considered achievable.

“The PropertyGuru affordability calculator measures the maximum housing loan amount based on the annual income and ability to service the loan,” he adds. “Our aim here at PropertyGuru is to help as many Malaysians as possible to achieve what is a realistic dream home, and that’s where the idea for the campaign came about.”
