Selangor International Business Summit concludes at a high note, with overwhelming response from local and regional businesses.
The 10-days summit was held from September 7-17, 2017, compromising three components: the Selangor Smart City & Future Commerce Convention 2017, held from September 7-9; followed by the Selangor-ASEAN Business Conference, held from September 11-12; and the Selangor International Expo 2017 which was held from September 14-17, 2017.
Speaking at the closing of the Selangor International Expo 2017, Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, Selangor State Senior Executive Councillor for Investment, Industry & Commerce, SME & Transportation, said that the event has left a significant mark as the biggest business event in the country.
“The visitorship of Selangor International Expo 2017 has reached more than 10,000 people yesterday evening and we are confident to exceed our target of 15,000 set in 2016 by end of today.
“As of 1.00 pm today, more than RM200 million of business transactions have been realised during the expo as compared to RM 100 million last year,” he added.
The Selangor International Business Summit as a whole has attracted almost 25,000 visitors in total this year, hosting business delegates, speakers and exhibitors from many countries and regions including ASEAN, Africa, China, Japan, Middle East, Europe and North America.
During the event, YB Dato’ Teng also presented prizes to the winners of the Selangor International Expo 2017 Best Booth Awards. The award for Best Booth Design was won by Central Spectrum. Recognition for Best Booth Decorations and Best Booth Space Utilisation was also awarded to North Port Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Unit Perancang Ekonomi Negeri Selangor (UPEN) respectively.
Dato’ Teng also acknowledges the positive response this year and notes that the summit will remain at its current scale for next year.
“Selangor International Business Summit 2018 will be held from September 6-16, 2018. We will further enhance the Smart City Convention as well as transform Selangor International Expo into the leading platform for food and halal entrepreneurs in the region. In addition, it is our firm intention to strengthen ASEAN collaborations via the Selangor – ASEAN Business Conference, which will also lead the way for new business opportunities in the whole region,” he said.
