McKinsey & Company has acquired talents and assets from VLT Labs, a Malaysian digital business and product development studio.
Bringing with them over four yearsof digital product engineering and design experience, the KL-based company specialises in helping corporations conceptualise, design and build digital products. VLT Labs’ talent will help boost McKinsey’s in house offerings and digital capabilities in Asia, helping enterprises in the region to grow their businesses.
VLT Labs will be joining the existing team at McKinsey Digital Labs, which includes developers, designers, IT architects, agile coaches and data engineering experts. The team will be working side by side with client teams for product delivery as well as insights and deployment methods for adopting an agile methodology.
This acquisition is the first acquisition made within Southeast Asia, and marks the second Asian acquisition by McKinsey. According to a media interview, Managing Partner in Malaysia for McKinsey & Co., Nimal Manuel told us that the acquisition is in line with McKinsey’s own transformation, reinventing their business to go beyond consulting, but also help companies in the implementation and deployment of digital products.
Manuel also shares that McKinsey welcomes the innovative approach and startup culture exemplified by VLT Labs, aiming to change McKinsey’s own historical legacy internally with their own work culture as well.
