For years, Mercedes-Benz hosted the MercedesTrophy, a premium tournament series for customers worldwide to express their passion for golf. For 2018, the MercedesTrophy will return for its 28th year in Malaysia and 29th year worldwide, accumulating over a million customers and fans that have teed off at the annual event.

Like our products, golf is a game of perfection, each and every stroke has to be perfect each and every time. This strong connection between the game and our brand has led to the active involvement of Mercedes-Benz in this sport since 1989. Today, the MercedesTrophy has evolved into an extremely successful tournament series for amateurs, staged over 60 countries, and we’re very proud to host it for the 28th year in Malaysia,” says Claus Weidner, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

Every year, more than 60,000 golfers in over 60 countries; all of whom tee off in local, regional and national invitational tournaments in the hope of qualifying for the MercedesTrophy World Final held in “the birthplace of the automobile”, Stuttgart, Germany. The MercedesTrophy tournament series in Malaysia will be played in nine qualifying rounds this year.

 

Tournament Schedule

 

The four categories are as follows:

Customers’ Category – Men:         Category A – Handicap 0 – 12

Category B – Handicap 13 – 20

Category C – Handicap 21 – 42

Customers’ Category – Women:   Category D – Handicap 0 – 36

(At Qualifying Round 8)

 

The top three winners from each category of each qualifying round will compete in the MercedesTrophy National Final Malaysia on 8 May at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club, Selangor.

Eileen Fong, Senior Manager, Commercial, Taylor Made; Peter Hourigan, General Manager, The Saujana Hotels & Resorts; Carlton Chua, Director, Crestlink; Claus Weidner, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia; Tham Onn Chuan, CEO, ATG Watch; CS Ng, Manager, Marketing Activation, Carlsberg; and Claire Strohkirch, Managing Director, Kinslager.

The top two winners in each handicap category for Men’s and the winner of the Women’s Category at the National Final will qualify for the MercedesTrophy Regional Final Asia, with an all-expenses-paid trip to Sanctuary Cove, Australia from 5 – 8 August 2018. The winner of each handicap category at the Regional Final will then qualify for the World Final in Stuttgart, Germany from 2 – 7 October 2018.
