Sunway University won the country-level CFA Institute Research Challenge after going head to head in a battle of analytical wits with three other finalist teams. Being a local, regional and global annual competition, the CFA Institute’s Research Challenge provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and research report-writing. Additionally, the presentations conducted are judged in front of a panel of financial and investment experts.
“The Research Challenge has been tremendous in helping expose students to real world industry experience with a global view. I hope this will inspire more students to look at the financial industry as a career path,” said Teoh Kok Lin, industry advisor to the Sunway University team and Founder and CIO of Singular Asset Management.
After championing the Research Challenge, Sunway University now advances to the Asia Pacific regional Research Challenge competition and will compete against 100 students representing 24 teams, with one regional winner advancing to the global competition. The regional and global competitions will be held on 26 – 27 April 2016 in Kuala Lumpur.
