AXA’s Solution for the Visually Impaired

AZA Affin General Insurance Bhd (AAGI) is introducing its AXA SmartAid, a Personal Accident insurance that provides visually impaired individuals with core benefits based on their needs.

This effort is facilitated in partnership with Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) with the aim to promote and create awareness on the needs of the disabled. The AXA SmartAid comes with three affordable premium rates:

Plan A: RM10,000 coverage on Accidental Death and Permanent Disablement, RM500 on Accidental Medical Expenses and RM1,000 on Cash Relief or Funeral Expenses with an Annual Premium of RM13.

Plan B: RM20,000 coverage on Accidental Death and Permanent Disablement, RM1,000 on Accidental Medical Expenses and RM2,000 on Cash Relief or Funeral Expenses with an Annual Premium RM25.

Plan C: RM50,000 coverage on Accidental Death and Permanent Disablement, RM2,000 on Accidental Medical Expenses and RM3,000 on Cash Relief or Funeral Expenses with an Annual Premium of RM60.

This plan is open to all visually impaired individuals aged from 18 to 65 years old and is renewable when that individual is up to 75 years old. According to Dato’ Kulasegaran Sabaratnam, Chairman of MAB, this plan is initiated following the feedback that individuals with disabilities are regarded as high risk, therefore visual impairment poses a barrier that hinders them from obtaining affordable insurance policies.

“Getting complete coverage for people suffering from visual impairment is often an uphill battle, which is why it is so important for us to come up with a policy like AXA SmartAid to protect the visually impaired from accidental events and safeguard their needs,” says Emmanuel Nivet, Chief Executive Officer of AAGI.
