Vietjet CEO receives two awards at the ASEAN Business Awards 2018

Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (Vietjet) President and CEO, Madam Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao was recently honoured as an outstanding female entrepreneur of ASEAN and Vietnam at the ASEAN Business Awards 2018.

The highly coveted awards for Women Entrepreneur of ASEAN and Women Entrepreneur of Vietnam was presented to Madam Thao by the President of Singapore, Mdm. Halimah Yacob and the Executive Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC), Mr Robert Yap in recognition of Madam Thao’s significant contributions in bolstering global and regional growth, as well as her prosperity as leader of Vietjet.

Launched in 2007 by the ASEAN-BAC as part of the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS), the ASEAN Business Awards acknowledges and recognises outstanding ASEAN enterprises and entrepreneurs that have shown significant progress in establishing and reinforcing their positions in various sectors including agriculture, finance, automotive, aviation, ICT, textiles and tourism. The awards honours the most outstanding and successful ASEAN companies that have contributed to the development of the ASEAN Economic Community.

As a new-age carrier strategically aiming to become a “Global Consumer Airline”, Vietjet under the leadership of Madam Thao has continuously expanded its flight network, not only covering most domestic destinations within Vietnam but also in the ASEAN region – reaching a worldwide network of a total of 103 routes. The airline has now grown to become the second-most-valuable airline in Southeast Asia by market capitalisation, and continues to build on its success to create a network of international routes stretching beyond the region.

Vietjet’s outstanding achievements in business coupled with the overwhelming success the airline has seen over the years, has propelled Madam Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao to become the first and only female billionaire in Vietnam and the first self-made female billionaire in Southeast Asia. As a testament to her achievements, Madam Thao was also recently honoured the winner of the ASEAN Entrepreneurs Award 2018 at the World Knowledge Forum in South Korea. She was also named among the world’s 100 most powerful women by Forbes Magazine for two consecutive years in 2016 and 2017, ranking above many prominent businesswomen and politicians.

Equipped with the world’s safest, young and modern fleet, Vietjet is proud to be able to offer millions of passengers the opportunity to reach the skies.
