Surina Shukri appointed new CEO of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation

Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo, announced the appointment of Surina Shukri as the new Chief Executive Officer of MDEC for a three-year term, effective January 16th, 2019.

Surina Shukri succeeds Datuk Yasmin Mahmood who resigned in December 2018.

Gobind, said, “Surina spent a major part of her professional career in the United States, has now returned to Malaysia to take up the new role in MDEC.”

Surina has more than 20 years experience in various multinationals especially JPMorgan Chase & Co and start-ups in the finance, environment, energy and technology sectors.

“MDEC has successfully led the construction of the digital economy ecosystem in the country and has brought a lot of benefit to the people,” said Gobind. “I am confident Surina will continue building MDEC with her leadership qualities and experience and take MDEC to greater heights not only in Malaysia but also on the world stage,” he added.
