Singapore businesses continue to ramp up on digital transformation – the nation was ranked second in the World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 2018[1]. VMware Cloud on AWS brings a new scale to the country’s transformation journey as businesses now have access to VMware’s enterprise class Software-Defined Data Center to the AWS Cloud with the same architecture and operational experience. Based on VMware Cloud Foundation, this hybrid cloud service delivers consistent infrastructure and simplified operations from the data center to the cloud, enabling customers to seamlessly migrate to the cloud, scale on demand and deliver on next-generation application strategies.

Jointly engineered by VMware and AWS in compliance with UOB’s strict security requirements, the platform enables applications deployed in this environment to benefit from robust disaster protection and optimised access to AWS’ wide range of services. It also reduces the cost and effort associated with migrating applications to the cloud by delivering infrastructure and operations that are consistent with those deployed within customer data centers, and extending tools, processes, and practices proven to support the most demanding applications.

“UOB joins a fast-growing global community of customers migrating VMware-based workloads to the cloud. We are confident and committed to support UOB’s digital innovation drive,” said Sanjay K. Deshmukh, vice president and managing director, Southeast Asia and Korea, VMware. “VMware Cloud on AWS provides a fast and cost-effective way to migrate mission-critical applications, or even entire data centers, to the cloud. Once in the cloud, we provide the industry-leading Software-Defined Data Center capabilities of VMware, coupled with the elasticity, breadth, and depth of AWS infrastructure and services, making it the ideal platform for modern applications.” Sanjay added.

Recent advancements to the service include:

  • Improvements to Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service to deliver robust protection for large-scale and storage intensive workloads, while significantly reducing the cost and complexity previously required to ensure the business continuity of mission-critical applications, cyclic workloads and Next Gen apps.
  • Supporting large-scale, secure cloud migrations and application portability globally, enabling customers to more rapidly and reliably migrate applications and extend data centers to the cloud.
