TM ONE, the enterprise and public sector business arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), recently launched a new cloud services campaign called Cloud α [Cloud Alpha], to boost its end-to-end digital offerings for Malaysian enterprises and public sectors; and further strengthen their resilience in their digital transformation journey.

Ahmad Taufek Omar, executive vice president and chief executive officer (CEO), TM ONE, said, “We are pleased to launch Cloud α, which we believe is timely amid today’s economic pressures. As organisations seek to remain competitive in a very challenging business environment, cloud computing has become a new norm; to enable businesses to be more agile, provide better and comprehensive services to their end customers, and achieve cost efficiencies.”

“This is especially crucial in times of uncertain market conditions owing to the current Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO), which demand enterprises and organisations to boost their use of digital tools and services, maintain higher levels of connectivity, and be more cost effective and more innovative than ever before,” he added.

TM ONE, as the enabler of a Hyperconnected Ecosystem, is taking transformation forward for Malaysian enterprises and public sector by strengthening its position as a key cloud aggregator to meet the increasing needs and demand of its customers towards multi and hybrid cloud solutions.

There is an upward trend towards repatriation of workloads from public cloud to a mix of either on-premise, dedicated private cloud or hybrid cloud to meet the organisation’s infrastructure needs.

According to TM,multi cloud is also gaining popularity, as it allows customers to comply with their security policy, reduce total cost, and be more agile in response to changing requirements.

Although it is widely understood that cloud has become the foundation that enables organisations to transform, differentiate and gain competitive advantage through greater flexibility, Malaysia still lags behind in terms of cloud adoption, which indicates a huge growth potential in the cloud services market.

The highest cloud usage, accounting to about half of enterprises’ cloud spending, is currently in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions, opening up plenty of untapped benefits that enterprises can reap from adopting other cloud services such as Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).

In addition, cloud is an important fundamental enabler for various verticals to roll-out important technologies and innovative services. For example, in the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector, Cloud α is the foundation that enables important innovation such as blockchain, chatbot, data analytics and robotic process automation (RPA) to be rolled out, so that the industry players can enhance their service delivery while keeping in compliance with regulatory requirements such as Bank Negara Malaysia’s Risk Management in Technology (RMiT) regulations.

Cloud α comprises end-to-end cloud services – embracing IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Cloud Professional Services and Managed Cloud Services, which will enable customers to maintain business resilience through challenging times.

TM ONE’s Enterprise Grade Cloud Infra is hosted in highly secured, Tier III certified, and global standards compliant data centres within Malaysia, ensuring that our customers are able to fulfill their data residency requirements.

“A key factor that differentiates TM ONE Cloud α from other cloud services is our comprehensive offerings to align with our customer’s cloud strategy. Whether they are looking at public, private, hybrid, or multi cloud, we have the solution for them.”

“TM ONE also offers comprehensive Cloud Professional Services that ranges from Consultancy, Technology Consulting, Migration Assessment, and Cloud Design Planning to facilitate our customers’ cloud adoption journey. This will provide our customers with peace of mind when they adopt cloud with TM ONE – knowing their data is kept secure, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, while our team  is always ready support them when in need, in line with TM’s promise to make life easier,” Ahmad Taufek added.

In conjunction with the launch of Cloud α, TM ONE also launches its promotional packages for Medium Enterprises. The IaaS promotion consist of Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) via TM ONE Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), and hybrid cloud on TM ONE Azure Stack, which will ensure that live data is available within minutes in the event of a disaster, thus improving Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) thresholds.

TM ONE is also offering 6 months free SaaS subscription of Microsoft Teams and Office 365 to support Medium Enterprises and SMEs throughout this challenging period, in addition to discounted Office 365 packages until end of the year. These SaaS packages are offered in collaboration with Microsoft Malaysia.

In early March, TM signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with VMware to transform TM ONE’s Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) to a Public Cloud through expansion of services to cater for end-to-end cloud platform that enables next-generation innovation for Malaysian enterprises.
