Lam Research Corp announces new appointments to lead new manufacturing operations

Lam Research Corp. (Nasdaq: LRCX), a global supplier of innovative wafer fabrication equipment to the semiconductor industry, today announced that Mike Snell will run the company’s global factory network based out of Penang, Malaysia and Penang-native Soon Kuek will oversee Lam Manufacturing Malaysia, the company’s latest and largest advanced technology production facility at the Batu Kawan Industrial Park in Penang. 

Both Snell and Kuek will be based at the soon-to-be operational 700,000 square feet facility, which will manufacture key products for all of Lam’s customers across the globe. Snell will serve as corporate vice president of manufacturing and Kuek will be the general manager in charge of Lam Manufacturing Malaysia.

Snell is responsible for developing and executing Lam’s production strategy and supporting the company’s global manufacturing sites. He previously served as vice president, manufacturing, and has been the managing director of manufacturing at Lam’s sites in Tualatin, Oregon, and Osan, Korea. He was also general manager of Silfex Inc., a division of Lam. 

Kuek has worked in the United States for more than 20 years. Prior to this role, she was senior director of supply chain management, as well as senior supplier business manager and engineering manager at Lam. Before joining Lam, Kuek spent 11 years at Xerox Corporation, where she held several roles.

Their proven track records in delivering strong business results and diverse career experience make them the ideal executives to lead our operations in Malaysia.”

Lam Manufacturing Malaysia is expected to be ready by mid-2021. The facility is projected to offer up to approximately 350 jobs over the next three years, with roles available in analytics, logistics, management, programming, and more.
