Petronas’ Nation Building Efforts Receives Recognition From International Body

National oil and gas giant, Petronas can be proud of its contribution to the nation, from its annual contribution to the government for various social initiative to its support for arts and culture, these undertaking has not gone without notice as the company was recently announced as the recipient of the Corporate Nation-Building Award in the Private Sector category by Thailand’s Nation-Building Institute International (NBII).
 
The 4th annual event themed “Nation-Building in the Pandemic New Normal” was hosted by the NBII and the Nation-Building Institute Malaysia, the awards are given to individuals and organisations from tri-sectors (government, private and people sectors) that contribute meaningfully to the society as well as nation-building in an impactful manner. They aim to create inspiration for those that dedicate their lives to the cause of public interest, past recipients include Tun Mahathir, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Ratan Tata of Tata Group.
 
In commemorating the recognition, Petronas President and Group Chief Executive Officer Tengku Muhammad Taufik remarked Petronas was entrusted with the responsibility of managing and maximising the nation’s hydrocarbon resources for the benefit of the nation. In the past 46 years, the company remain grateful that its growth has been synonymous with the growth of Malaysia.   

Other recipients of the award this year include Professor Dr Muhamad Yunus, Nobel Prize Laureate and Founder of the Grameen Bank who received the Lifetime Achievement Award (People Sector) as well as Barefoot College-Social Work and Research Centre (India) for the Corporate Nation-Building Award (People Sector).
