Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care appoints Raymond Chong as new GCEO

Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (RSDH) has announced the appointment of Raymond Chong Chin Wah as its new Group Chief Executive Officer with effect from December 1, 2020.

Raymond will take over the reins from current Group CEO Mr. Greg Brown who has been at the helm of RSDH’s operations in Asia since Oct 31, 2017 and will be leaving the Australia-based Ramsay Health Care Group after 16 years.

With over 30 years of experience in healthcare, Raymond has extensive expertise and cross-culture experience in managing hospitals in Australia, Thailand and Malaysia. He also has a successful track record in business turnaround, and merger and acquisition across Southeast Asia.

Prior to joining RSDH, Raymond was CEO of Bangkok Dusit Medical Service, managing the hospital group Samitivej Public Company Limited and various healthcare wellness businesses in Thailand including the commissioning of a 294-room wellness resort catering for residential medical and wellness programmes.

He has held various posts in private hospitals and medical supply chain businesses over the years including IDS Medical System Group where he was responsible for expansion into several new markets in Southeast Asia. Raymond has extensive international experience having worked for over 10 years in Thailand and with St. John of God Healthcare System in Australia.

Raymond was nominated for the ‘100 Next-Era CEOs in Asia’ by Japan Times in 2010 and he speaks regularly on IT and innovation in healthcare. He has a Bachelor of Business from Curtin University of Technology, Australia.

The RSDH Board of Directors said Raymond is set to steer the Group forward in its next chapter of growth given his healthcare management background, leadership capabilities and solid track record in business transformation. The Board also took the opportunity to express its heartfelt gratitude to Brown for his dedication, commitment and significant contributions to the Group particularly in a year of unprecedented challenges as a result of the pandemic.

RSDH comprises Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Ara Damansara Medical Centre and ParkCity Medical Centre in Malaysia. Overseas, it has RS Premier Bintaro, RS Premier Jatinegara and RS Premier Surabaya in Indonesia as well as The Central Surgery in Hong Kong.
