Accelerating the digital transformation journey

K. Raman, the Managing Director of Microsoft Malaysia is responsible for overseeing the entire Malaysian subsidiary, in line with the company’s vision to empower every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more. Raman leads a talented team in Malaysia of close to 200 employees and 5,000 Microsoft certified partners, helping customers accelerate their digital transformation journeys at a time when the country is embracing cloud, mobile and big data technologies.

With Covid-19 accelerating the need for Malaysia to embrace digital, Raman has been leading his team to work hand-in-hand with the public and private sectors, in support of the nation’s business recovery and resiliency efforts. Additionally, to help Malaysians’ succeed in the roles of tomorrow, Raman and his team have placed great emphasis on skilling and education initiatives.

Efforts include DELIMA (“Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia”), which saw multiple tech companies join hands to provide a unified collaborative platform to aid schools with remote learning, as well as the Global Skilling Initiatives, which provides free digital skills learning resources from LinkedIn, Microsoft and Github.

Passionate about the importance of education and the role of technology in it, Raman is an adjunct professor at the Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) and the Azman Hashim International Business School (AHIBS), Universiti Teknnologi Malaysia. Raman has also been recognized by Astro Ulagam as an advocate in the Indian Community who champions emerging digital technologies in Malaysia.

Under Raman’s leadership, Microsoft Malaysia was crowned Top Sub for Emerging Medium Countries in 2019, in recognition of the business’ exceptional performance in Malaysia. Through Microsoft’s strong engagement and skilling efforts with the local education, Microsoft Malaysia was also voted as the top choice for graduate recruitment in the technology category in Graduate’s Choice Awards 2019 and once again in 2020. Data & Storage Asean 2019 Awards recognized Microsoft in the Best Analytics Vendor Category four years in a row.

With close to 30 years of experience in the IT sector, and leadership and management experience spanning across the APAC and ASEAN markets, Raman is a well-recognised and respected by his industry peers.
