Tourism Selangor is urging both new and existing tourism operators to have a change in game-plan to cope with the changing market demands and tourists’ expectations.
Taking place during the Tourism’s Selangor e-Travel Talk Series virtual session, the tourism board has also highlighted several key insights for innovations in the tourism industry.
“Tourism operators have to push themselves to the limit to introduce new ideas and concepts to attract visitors. They play the role in boosting tourism, raise its standard and help people to appreciate what are the things we have around us including nature, culture and traditions,” panellist and Owner of Ninja Private Kitchen, Zung Heng said.
“Tourism packages in Selangor need to attractively-match market demands, and offer optimal travel experience. Travel packages should also offer cross-culture elements and executed with a proper marketing strategy. This will create an ‘instagrammable’ moment for everyone to enjoy,” the Deputy Chairman of MATTA Selangor Chapter, Mohd Rezwan Bin Alias added.
Speaking at the virtual session, Flight Attendant, Shazwani has also emphasised that it is important for travel operators to leverage and engage social media to spread the news on tourism products because Malaysians resort to going online especially during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.
According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), Selangor recorded the highest total of domestic tourism amounting to RM15.5 billion. This was followed by W.P. Kuala Lumpur (RM12.1 billion), Sarawak (RM8.7 billion), Sabah (RM8.1 billion) and Perak (RM7.8 billion).
