Celcom Records Increase In Overall Subscribers by 306,000

Speaking at the Celcom Q4 2020 Virtual Media Briefing, Celcom Axiata Berhad’s (Celcom) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Idham Nawawi underlined a strong market momentum in H2Y2020 with 306,000 growth Year-on-Year in the mobile network provider subscriber base.

Celcom recorded an overall positive growth with QoQ improvements in Subscribers, Revenue, Cost, Profitability and gaining market share. The telco register an increased in PATAMI by 2.7 percent (RM42 million) and increase in EBITDA by 10.6 percent (RM75 million).

Additionally, the mobile network provider business growth and profitability results from continued focus on Operational Excellence and cost management.

The operational excellence and cost management initiative by Celcom is looking to increase network capacity, reduce network traffic congestion and improve 4G coverage nationwide.

“Our growth trajectory in H2 2020 has been the result of our continuous innovative efforts and supportive initiatives throughout Q3 and Q4.”

As more consumers are digitally engaged for businesses, working from home, education, and entertainment, we are working tirelessly to raise the quality of our 4G network coverage and speed up more network investments to ensure a consistent network experience,” Idham said.

Celcom reminded users to be prepared because all 3G networks will be discontinued to give way to 4G and 5G under the JENDELA programme by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) at the end of the year.
