MITI: Selangor Remains Ideal Choice For Investors But Industry Players Must Be Progressive And Competitive

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has reaffirmed its commitment to boost the country’s economy via various initiatives for industry players at the state level, including Selangor.

Senior Minister cum MITI Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali said proactive support of agencies under the Ministry will help improve the economic sector in the state of Selangor to remain competitive and consistent despite current economic conditions. 

He said the Caring Malaysia Meeting held recently provides an opportunity and access to the latest information on MITI initiatives and agencies for the economic community in Selangor in helping to boost the Selangor economy throughout 2021.

“This programme can also be a platform for  industry players in the state to share information with MITI to improve the initiatives offered by the Government.

“I hope industry players  to be more progressive and remain competitive throughout 2021 and to take advantage of the initiatives offered by the Government,” Azmin said.

The MITI Minister further stated between 2015 and 2020, Selangor attracted 1,548 projects with a total investment of RM75.9 billion. creating 100,205 new jobs although the country was hit by the Covid-19 outbreak in early 2020.

He said among the major foreign countries investing in Selangor are the British Virgin Islands, the Netherlands, Japan, Hong Kong and China.

“Selangor is also the choice of local companies to operate including Hartalega NGC Sdn. Bhd., Perodua Global Mfg. Sdn. Bhd., KL-Kepong Oleomas Sdn. Bhd., Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn. Bhd., Hartalega Sdn. Bhd. and Tan Chong Motor Assembles Sdn. Bhd.

“As the frontliner of the country’s economy, MITI and its agencies constantly strive to ensure that economic sustainability and health protection remain balanced.
