DSR Daily Fresh Sdn Bhd (DSR Daily Fresh), has unveiled its first flagship store, D’MasKing to showcase downstream durian products in Bentong.

The flagship outlet features 1,452 sqft of retail, kitchen, and dine-in spaces.

Co-Founder of DSR Fruits Sdn Bhd, Ng Lian Poh said with their expertise in upstream orchard management, combined with Daily Fresh’s expertise in product growth, state-of-the-art facilities, and extensive distribution network, has enabled us to achieve this goal.

“The launch of D’MasKing fulfils our goal to becoming the first integrated orchard-to-market durian player in Malaysia and we aim to expand our market reach by launching more concept stores in major cities nationwide in the future.

“The location of our first flagship store is intentionally in Bentong, which is near Raub, the birthplace of our Musang King and this is keeping true to our motto of ‘Origin Matters’, where we mainly source for authentic Raub Musang King durians to produce our downstream durian products,” Ng Lian said.

Ng Lian added that it also bodes well with the rising urbanisation in Bentong, with the state government’s plans for it to become the second major city in Pahang.

Both durian aficionados and casual durian consumers will get to experience D’MasKing’s fresh Musang King durians and speciality durian products such as durian pizza, durian bun, durian truffle popcorn, Musang King gelato as well as Musang King gelato filled croissants, puffs, waffles and tarts.

Apart from D’MasKing, these downstream durian products will be available at over 1,600 Daily Fresh retail outlets across 16 countries including Kuwait, Qatar, Hong Kong,  Vietnam, and Malaysia.

Present at the launch, Deputy Chief Executive Officer II of Malaysian Investment Developement Berhad (MIDA), Ahmad Khairuddin Abdul Rahim said to accelerate in domestic investment expansion, MIDA will increase its efforts to reach out to more local firms, Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and startups.

He stated that with the adoption of Industry 4.0 (IR4.0), DSR would be able to capitalise on the Internet of Thing (IoT) and Big Data Analytics (BDA) in presenting an integrated durian orchard management system to monitor the entire upstream and downstream activities.

“I am excited that DSR Group is passionate to embark on the sustainability agenda in driving new opportunities for the company in innovation towards social and environmental impact.

“With the adoption of new technologies in the agriculture industry, it would create more values in protecting the environment,” he said.

Khairuddin said that MIDA increase efforts to reach out to more local companies and small and medium-sized enterprises, and startups in their effort to accelerate domestic investment growth.

The market size of downstream durian products is expected to be 20 times larger than the value of upstream raw durian fruits of US$14 billion annually, according to the Durian Global Market Report.

Currently, Malaysia is the world’s largest consumers of durian per year at 11kg of fresh durian per capita, far exceeding China’s 0.21 kg per capita per year.
