Futurise And Academy Of Sciences Malaysia Inks MoU In Efforts To Promote Economic Opportunities For Industries

Futurise Sdn Bhd (Futurise) has partnered with Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) to promote the country’s aspiration of creating and cultivating a favorable innovation ecosystem through ASM’s Malaysian Collaborative Network for Innovation (i-Connect) programme.

The collaboration will see two parties leverage on each other’s expertise and strengths for better economic opportunities for Malaysian industries into Futurise’s open innovation platform, FUTURITY.

Four key focused strategic areas include Industry 4.0 in Manufacturing, Fintech in Islamic Finance, Health & Wellness and Halal Supply Chain. 

The i-Connect programme is an industry-led collaborative network that involves the Quadruple Helix framework that includes the University-Industry-Government-Civil Society interactions.

“Our collaboration with the Academy of Sciences Malaysia addresses the vital link that will encompass the drive in creating a conducive innovation ecosystem for the country.” said Mahadhir Aziz, Chief Executive Officer of Futurise.

Futurise will ensure that FUTURITY is to be properly utilised for the i-Connect programme so that suitable innovation within the programme can be recorded in the platform as well as channeling the potential into the National Regulatory Sandbox programme managed by Futurise.

Meanhwile, ASM will provide all the necessary advice and knowledge in relation to the features of the i-Connect programme, including programme engagement, project evaluation and other specific activities for the different phases of bringing innovation into the commercialisation stage.

“In order to achieve the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 and the status of High-Tech Nation as outlined in the National Plan on Science, Technology, and Innovation (NPSTI)2021-2030, Malaysia needs to strengthen its innovation ecosystem focused on demand-driven and industry-led collaborative networks,” The Academy of Sciences Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Hazami Habib said.

The founding members of the i-Connect programme will create a common vision and strategic plan, which includes a technology roadmap to support the gap analysis and enable continuous innovation. Organizations designated by ASM as Neutral Entities for each main strategic area will oversee and promote the implementation process.

To ensure the collaboration’s effectiveness, a number of collaborative programmes and events have been outlined.
