Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SG Education Group Berhad (SGEG) to develop long-term cooperation in enhancing the drone talent under the nine pillars.
This MoU reinforces the focus toward the area of capacity building, training and technology development and discovering the key related areas In line with industry 4.0 concentrated toward Drone Technology and Internet of Things (IoT).
The MoU was signed by the Chairman of SG Education, Sri Ganes, and Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian Technology Development Corporation, Norhalim Yunus.
“This MoU signing marks the beginning of both parties into intensifying our effort to develop the tech capabilities and services as well as propelling more talent into the drone industry. We are targeting to upskills the graduates, creating more technopreneur to build the drone ecosystem,” Norhalim Yunus commented.
The UPM-MTDC Serdang Complex will act as a Drone Hub, as in the centre for training, upskilling, production, and commercialisation of drones locally and regionally.
“We have expanded our activities and have started working with partners from the drone industry relating to industry 4.0. MTDC is committed to integrate the support and services for technopreneurs which includes advisory services such as mentoring, soft-landing, branding, fundraising, international collaboration and networking,” Norhalim Yunus said.
Previously, MTDC has also collaborated with key technology players and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI) and AGROBANK, to further strengthen the field of agriculture, provide funding and upgrade the technology within FELDA community.
SGEG has also presented a scholarship worth RM100,000 for Assured Certified Drone Maintenance and Repair Proficient. In relation to that, ten students from Kemahiran Baitumal Institute have received scholarship with the fund is to be utilised to develop their skills and accommodating the industry needs.
“Moving forward we are aiming to collaborate with more drone players and the local SMEs to drive the industrial skills. MTDC will be opening more hubs concentrated on industry 4.0, mainly Augmented reality (AR), 3D printing, big data and more,” Sri Ganes added.
