If you’re looking for some mouth-watering lunch comprising classic dishes and pub grub with a bit of a stylish twist, look no further than Kuala Lumpur’s very own Rockafellers Kitchen & Bar. Situated in the hip neighbourhood of Changkat Bukit Bintang, the British and Irish restaurant is offering an updated menu that marries the best of European and British cuisine with a dash of South Asian touch.
On the menu are classic favourites that have been thoughtfully tweaked to bring forth a myriad of bursting flavours.
British pub food is comfort food and at Rockafellers, they attempt to take it up a notch from the mere “Chicken Tikka Masala” experience. For starters, quintessential “British” pub grub is given a makeover in Rockafellers signature pies and sliders.
The new menu offers 12 mini pies and 12 mini sliders. Diners can choose to have a set of six pies or six sliders or be brave and have all 12 listed on the menu. And you can mixed it up if you want some pies and sliders.
The Lamb Mango Chutney pie is definitely a must have! Its crusty pie shell is stuffed with cubed masala lamb under a layer of mango chutney. It’s a pie that is refined and thoughtful in its composition. It’s delicate, not too spicy and not too sweet – just the perfect blend that makes you awaiting the next bite!
Let your taste buds be excited by the delightful array of pies. Try a mini pie set with the classic English Pork, Butter Chicken, Lamb Mango Chutney, Lamb Rogan Josh and Seabass Gratin.
And the same creative treatment is given to the sliders in the sliders set.
The Philly Cheese Steak slider is highly recommended. Between its soft buns is a lovingly cooked beef tenderloin, pretty and pink, topped with cheese and some crunchy fried carrot chips.
Chef Yogi, the man behind this creative new menu, wanted to offer diners an experience for the senses.
The pies and sliders are to be savoured. It’s definitely not to be chowed down and drowned with a glass of beer.
Although perfect with the mocktails or beer thanks to the subtle Asian infusions of spice and heat, the new menu is a great addition for diners to enjoy old favourites that are unique and tasty.
Rockafellers mains are also not to be ignored. Their Crusted Lamb Rack with Seared Scallops are a signature favourite. The lamb is cooked to perfection, soft and succulent on the inside with a crunchy outer layer.
And if you’re looking for fish, the Cod Fillet with Garlic Prune, Asparagus and Dill Sauce is a perfect choice. The soft, tender cod fish is topped a delicious nutty garlic prune.
Try the mains with the Salmon Nicoise with Anchovy Dijon Vinaigrette Salad.
And for the brave hearted, not to be missed is the Meat Stack. Standing at 5″ and weighing close to 1 kg, this meat lovers delight is a burger lovingly created from patties made from beef tenderloin, chicken breast, minced pork, layered with turkey ham, cheese and jalapenos.
All burgers in the menu come with chips, salad, tomatoes, red cabbage salsa and coleslaw.
Honorable mention must be given to the Smoked Duck Breast and Asparagus Roll. A juicy piece of smoked duck wrapped in crusty pastry is perfect if you are looking for a quick bite. Again, this roll has had the royal treatment. It’s not your garden variety roll. Expect to be delighted!
If pizza is your thing, try the Arugula Salmon Capers Pizza. The smoky, salty smoked salmon is paired perfectly with cream cheese and roasted red and green capsicum. This pizza goes very well with a chilled glass of mocktail on a warm afternoon.
All in all, Rockafellers definitely delivers… and will leave you waiting to come back again, and again, and again!
