MATRADE Signs MoC With Jetro To Strengthen Trade Promotion In Halal, ICT and E-commerce Areas

MATRADE has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to strengthen Malaysia’s trade promotion cooperation with Japan in areas such as Halal, ICT, e-commerce and digital transformation.

The signing took place during the first Trade and Investment Mission led by Senior Minister and Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) Minister, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Azmin’s mission to Japan has also recorded RM916.15 million of export value from Japanese buyers. Meetings were held major “Sogo Sosha”, general trading companies in Japan, such as Mitsubishi Corporation and Mitsui & Co.

The Ministry is looking to increase sourcing from Malaysia for FMCG, palm oil, halal products and services as well as chemicals and chemical products. Business exchanges was also held with 100-Yen store operator, Daiso to connect Malaysian exporters to an opportunity of supplying more Malaysian products.
