Agriculture Minister: Food Supply And Security Imperative

Five papers were presented to the Executive Committee on National Food Security Policy regarding food security measures. The Executive Committee aims to tackle strategy and issues regarding the nation’s food security matters.

Chaired by MAFI Minister, YB Datuk Seri Dr. Ronald Kiandee, the meeting discusses the Action Plan on National Food Security Policy 2021-2025, the efforts to improve meat imports monitoring as well as strategies to tackle issues on onion supply and price control.

Two working papers were presented, the Smart Sawah Berskala Besar (SBB) initiative, and a report on Malaysia’s performance under the Global Food Security Index (GFSI) 2020.

Joining him during the meeting were head of ministries and government agencies, academicians, industry players, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

The Committee members have also suggested strengthening food security nationwide and taking progressive actions to transform the agrifood sector to its best level.

“We need to make sure that the food supply is guaranteed, sufficient, safe, and under control in any situation,” said Kiandee.
