Celcom Partners With Allo To Expand Home Connectivity Services

Celcom Axiata Berhad (Celcom) through its subsidiaries have partnered with Allo Technology Sdn. Bhd. (Allo), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), to bring high-speed broadband and convergence services to more homes and businesses across the country.

Celcom’s partnership with Allo enables both companies to rapidly extend the delivery of High-Speed Broadband (HSBB) Network Services to more areas in Peninsular Malaysia and expand its coverage of Celcom Home Fibre.

Through this partnership with Allo, Celcom will immediately be able to expand its market reach to additional 80,000 homes in selected areas within Melaka, Perak and Cyberjaya.

Celcom’s home fibre connections will be available to more premises this year, as Allo wants to expand the infrastructure to other states including Selangor, Kedah, Johor, Penang, and Negeri Sembilan, covering over 150,000 households.

Idham Nawawi, Chief Executive Officer of Celcom Axiata Berhad stated that this partnership augments Celcom’s ongoing commitment to provide a better high-speed internet experience to more Malaysians, especially during these challenging times.

“Amidst the pandemic, change in consumer behavior has spurred a tremendous growth of data usage and demand for better internet connectivity. Converged Broadband services have evolved into a crucial enabler to the economy, impacting the lives of many Malaysians through e-Learning, Work-from-Home and many more,” he said.

“Partnering Allo also demonstrates our desire to support Government’s aspiration through Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA), that aims for inclusive connectivity and better quality of experience. It further cements our commitment to industry collaboration and infrastructure sharing towards creating a ‘win-win-win’ situation that will benefit the rakyat, the government and the digital ecosystem,” Idham said.

Meanwhile, Rodzi Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of Allo praised the collaboration’s efforts to provide Malaysians with a better connectivity experience at a faster pace through Allo’s Open Access Network.

“This collaboration has shown that Celcom shares the same objective as Allo. Together, we will use this opportunity to bridge the digital divide by tapping into whitespace areas (no existing fiber connectivity) and increase broadband penetration in the country,” Rodzi said.

Celcom and Allo will provide free connectivity to selected Melaka houses as part of its pilot programme. The chosen families from a few towns in Melaka, including Felda Kemendor in Jasin, will be allowed to use the connectivity service for free for six months.
