Putrajaya Unveils RM40 Billion Pemerkasa Plus Aid Package

Putrajaya has unveiled the RM40 billion Pemerkasa Plus aid package, with an allocated RM5 billion direct fiscal injection.

RM1 billion from the aid will be allocated to improve the country’s healthcare system with RM450 million allocated to increase bed capacity and ICU equipment. RM200 million will be allocated for private hospitals.

The Prime Minister has also directed MOSTI Minister to speed up the vaccination drive through PICK and has aimed to achieve 15,000 doses per day.

“We would like to achieve herd immunity at the end of this year or perhaps even earlier,” said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

He has also directed government assets such as buses and vans to be utilised to assist those in rural areas to help them reach vaccination centers.

Community members in the B40 category alongside the unemployed and SMEs will be given a choice of a three-month automatic moratorium or to be able to pay back in instalments for six months.

SMEs will also be receiving RM1,000 in June and another RM500 in July from the Prihatin Khas Grant.

Putrajaya has also allocated RM2.4 billion for Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat from end-June which will comprise of an addition RM500 for households with monthly income of up to RM2,500.

The amount will be paid in July after RM1,000 payment in June. An additional RM300 will be given to households with monthly income between RM2,501 and RM5,000.

Additionally, hotel operators, travel and tourism agencies, shopping complexes and premises, convention centers, theme parks and local airline offices will be eligible for 10 percent electricity bill discount for an additional three months between July and September.

The government further announced one-month wage subsidy programme worth RM1.5 billion for 2.5 million eligible employees and 200,000 employers.
