RHB To Debut Virtual Hackathon To Harness Innovative Ideas For Digital Banking

RHB Banking Group has unveiled its inaugural Get Your Hack On (“GYHO”) virtual hackathon happening in June 2021 and calling all innovators to develop breakthrough ideas and co-create solutions that deliver superior customer experience in digital banking.

GHYO will be held from June 11 to 13, 2021, and the winners will be announced after the Grand Finals on June 19, 2021. This hackathon brings together fintechs, innovators, and technical partners to collaborate with tech talent from a variety of fields.

Ganesh Mahendranathan, Head of Innovation at RHB Banking Group said, “As we face the difficult headwinds posed by the pandemic, we are also seizing the plethora of opportunities presented by changes in the banking landscape. The increased rate of digital consumption has resulted in a surge of new digital consumers.”

GHYO is also part of RHB’s larger effort to strengthen ties with Malaysia’s startup and business ecosystem, with the goal of working with up to 300 techies to drive customer-centric and digitally driven innovations.

RHB will also be sourcing talent during the hackathon as part of its ongoing effort to strengthen RHB’s in-house digital and technology capability.

The event is an opportunity for participants to not only build a network with fellow hackers and win up to RM26,000 in cash prizes and Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) cloud credits but to also work with one of the leading banks in Malaysia.

RHB is looking for application designers, developers (front-end and back-end, full stack), business analysts, UI/UX designers, technical architects, business architects, scrum masters, digital strategy experts, and a variety of other roles to help it on its digital transformation journey.

RHB’s technical partner for this event will be AWS, which will provide additional tools, cash, and prizes to participants, with community partners Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (“MDEC”) and Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (“MaGIC”).
