MITI Will Conduct Spot Checks On Factories Throughout FMCO

Ministry of International Trade and Industry has informed business owners that it will conduct surprise checks on industry players especially on factories to ensure they comply with health regulations and practice Covid-19 SOPs.

According to the Ministry, there has been many reports on these factories operating despite not falling under the sectors allowed, many have known to be illegally operating causing uneasiness to neighborhoods in the vicinity. MITI has asked the public to report directly to its Ministry if any incidences on such activities is spotted and has called on owners to immediately stop as they are not only breaking the law but risking the lives of their employees.

In order to keep these activity in check, an 82 member Task Force has been formalised, who will attend to these reports and immediately deploy to the location to verify them. To date, these men and women have conducted over 24,000 checks and have either ordered to shut or compounded 200 off them for various offences.

Among the violation committed includes not installing mySejahtera scanning system, not wearing protection masks, above the 60% staffing capacity permitted, operating even though not under essential sector and no social distancing.

The Special Task Force have been known to mobilise at all hours, as they operate 24 hours 7 days week, businesses are advised to adhere to the protocols and do not break the rules, consequences can be severe and lives are at stake.
