According to a circular from the Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur’s management, the hotel will be closing down on September 1.
The circular signed by the hotel’s general manager had explained that a voluntary separation scheme will be offered to affected staff.
The announcement comes as the hospitality sector continues to be affected by the economic challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic along with the rising competition in the industry.
“We have arrived at this decision after considering the present circumstances and all available options. We are left with little choice other than to proceed with this closure,” he said.
Despite being designated as a quarantine hotel, the hotel has been incurring monthly operational losses arising from the impacted business, rates, returns and occupancy.
