China Foreign Ministry has issued its sternest statement with regards to the United States meddling in Hong Kong, it call for the Superpower nation to immediately stop poking its nose its the Kingdoms internal affairs and that it will not hesitate take any measures necessary in accordance with law to defend its sovereignty.
The spokesperson made the remarks after the U.S. government issued “Hong Kong Business Advisory” warning and imposed sanctions on seven officials of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR).
In the statement China reemphasised that Hong Kong is part of its territory and its affairs are purely domestic affairs and noted that external forces that attempt to meddle in Hong Kong affairs will find themselves in a situation “like the tiny ants that try to shake the mighty tree” in refence to Chinese proverb to little annoyances.
It also further claimed that the United States has concocted the “Hong Kong Business Advisory” with no basis to smear Hong Kong’s business environment, and has illegally imposed sanctions on several officials an act that gravely violates international law and basic norms governing international relation. These has been the most public outrage the Chinese have ever voiced out with regards to interference in Hong Kong since the street protests in 2019.
China uses “one country, two systems” policy to administer the islands, under which it says that a high degree of autonomy is given to the people there, however many citizens question on the freedom handed out. Ironically it was the implementation of the National Security Law that got Hong Kong citizens upset, however its the same law that is now offering law upholders social stability and the rule of law is able to be upheld.
A sense of order has been reinstalled after 24 months of riots and foreign investors are back with the business environment improved.
The spokesperson for the Ministry noted that a report released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) recognises Hong Kong’s status as a global financial hub and claims widespread objection on the business advisory especially among the U.S. business community in Hong Kong. “This once again exposed the sinister intention of the U.S. to undermine Hong Kong’s stability and prosperity, meddle in China’s domestic affairs, and thwart China’s development,” he added.
China remains unperturbed and continues stand firm on its polices for Hong Kong, the stance for now is fight all the way and see this through until the end.
