Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia Announces New Appointments In Line With Growth Strategy

Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia has appointed Zarir Bin Mohd Rawi as Director Retail Banking, Nur Lynn Lau Binti Abdullah as Chief Operating Officer, and Lum Kok Huat as the Head of Legal. These appointments are in line with the Bank’s strategy to grow its business in Malaysia.

With an even stronger senior leadership team, Al Rajhi Bank marches towards its vision of an award-winning Islamic bank in Malaysia. Arsalaan Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer, Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia said, “With the appointments of Zarir, Nur Lynn and Lum, Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia is at an advantageous position to expand our presence in the local Islamic consumer market. Zarir, Nur Lynn and Lum will bring a wealth of banking experience to our executive committee, and we are confident that their appointments will propel us in our ambition to be the number one Islamic bank in Malaysia.

Zarir was most recently the Chief Operating Officer, and led the transformation in Operations. The Bank’s appointment of Zarir highlights his leadership to lead the retail business and to unlock its full potential given his diverse experience in consumer banking. Prior to joining Al Rajhi Bank, Zarir held senior positions in Bank Negara and CIMB Bank.

In his new role as the Director of Retail banking, Zarir will enhance the Bank’s propositions to capture the robust market opportunities in the Islamic finance sector. Prior to Nur Lynn’s appointment as the Chief Operating Officer, she led the Business Transformation Department in Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia. Leveraging on her vast and diverse experience in managing the Bank’s transformation projects since 2016, she is tasked to oversee the overall operational functions of the bank. As the Bank maintains its positive growth trajectory, Nur Lynn will ensure the business strategies are well executed.

Throughout her career, Nur Lynn has held senior leadership positions including Hong Leong Bank and Kuwait Finance House. Lum joined Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia in July. Prior to this, he was a member of the Executive Committee entrusted to lead and manage the legal practice group of HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad, as well as double-hatting as Senior Legal Counsel for the Amanah wholesale banking business.

In his tenure with HSBC Amanah, Lum contributed to various notable transactions in the wholesale banking space including the origination of various Sukuk, Islamic sustainability linked financing, Islamic trade financing solutions and Islamic structured
products. His experience and leadership will help drive Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia to become a leader in Islamic banking.
