This is not being taken lightly by the Government, the National Security Council has instructed relevant agencies to intensify their patrols and check-ins to these localities with more gusto. They have been ordered to take stringent checks as reports are pouring on the failures of many of these premises in following the Standard Operating Procedures.

So far a total of 49 of these places have been shut due to not complying to the SOP’s set by the government. A further assessment had resulted on some of these localities to be placed under EMCO after clusters were identified to be forming in the vicinity.

Zones that are locked down include 2 in Daerah Kinta- Perak, 1 in Rompin- Pahang, Pendang- Kedah, 5 locality in Sabah, Beaufort, Belarun, Kudat and Lahad Datu.

Business owners are reminded to ensure SOP’s are strictly adhered to at their facilities or face severe fines and even jail term. Perhaps a fine for every case detected at their premise should compel the owners to take matters more serious!
