Mercedes Benz Germany has made the much anticipated full electric vehicle, the EQS premium range available for order with delivery in September. The electric vehicles in the luxury and executive segment was developed based on a custom architecture, that is scalable and can soon be used across model series from the brand.

With an operating range of up to 770 kilometres and an output of up to 385 kW, the powertrain of the EQS meets every expectation of a progressive saloon in the S-Class segment. All EQS models have an electric powertrain at the rear axle, while the versions with 4MATIC also have an eATS at the front axle.

The German car maker, will release two model of its first all-electric luxury saloon, the EQS 450 with 245 kW and the EQS 580 4MATIC with 385 kW in Germany and in the US market will see the models in the fourth quarter. The EQS is the first model to be based on the modular architecture for luxury and executive-class electric vehicles, it combines technology, design, functionality and connectivity in a completely new way. This will be first Mercedes-Benz to offer the option of activating completely new vehicle functions via over-the-air updates (OTA) in many areas.

One of the main highlight of the interior is the MBUX Hyperscreen a large, curved screen unit which sweeps almost from A-pillar to A-pillar. Three screens sit under a glass cover and appear to merge into one. The 12.3-inch OLED display for the front passenger gives them their own display and control area.

As for the drive train, the EQS uses a Permanent exited Synchronous electric motor which gives both the models a top speed of 210km/h. Zero to hundred is achieved at a mere 6.2 seconds for the EQS 450 jand shockingly just 4.3 seconds for 4matic EQS 580! Using quick charging technology as if was a smartphone, bring it to any quick charging station and it will be fully charged in 31 minutes.

Mercedes has priced the 450 at Euro 106,374 and the 580 at Euro 135, 529.
