State Government Disbursed RM80 Million From RM551 Million Kita Selangor Package 2.0

With its own arsenal of assistance and stimulus packages, Selangor has been progressive in its efforts to mange the Covid-19 situation in the State. Under the June Kita Selangor Package 2.0, the Selangor government allocated RM551 million fund to assist Selangorians who are affected and impacted by the lockdown. To date it has spent RM70-60 million of the allocation with more programs set to kick off.

Selangor MB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that the state continuously monitors the progress of the financial aid package that is inclusive of 25 programmes introduced to address the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Some of the programmes have been completed such as the moratorium and waiver of education loans (deferment of loan repayments). While some are still ongoing, such as the food basket programme distributed by state assemblymen.

There are programs that will be taking off soon, like the free data initiative which will only start in October and is currently in the registration process. The states assistance in on top of various aid packages offered by the Federal government including PERKASA, MEMPERKASA and PEMULIH which are designed to revive businesses during the recovery period.

On the possibility for more packages or a third installation of the Kita Selangor package, the MB said there is no plans as the state will be revealing the Selangor Budget soon.

Themed ‘Moving Together towards Success’ the package, which is part of the state’s continuous effort to cushion the social and economic impact from the Covid-19 pandemic, consists of three strategies covering 25 programmes. The three strategies are namely caring for the people’s welfare and survival, saving the industry, economic sectors, and entrepreneurs in Selangor, and execution of health control to curb the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
