Integrated engineering solutions provider, Kelington Group has secured a new contract worth approximately RM420 million to refurbish the existing facility and construct a new facility for a US based manufacturing company owned by a world leading data storage devices and solutions specialist.
According to Kelington, the facility is part of the clients Sarawak Expansion Project, which will be located at Sama Jaya Free Industrial Zone in Kuching. The project is expected to commence in mid-September 2021 and complete by December 2022.
The latest contract win added to the company’s new orders list to a record-breaking high of approximately RM764 million, up 56% from its record of RM490 million contract wins in full year 2020.
CEO Ir. Raymond Gan hopes to strengthen our relationship with this particular client and continue to play a part in its expansion in Malaysia. The landmark project is encouraging and will open further opportunities for the group and propel it to greater growth in the electronic industry.
Raymond adds that the operating landscape across Kelington’s business segments are improving as more resumption of expansion activities beyond just the semiconductor industry are taking place. Tender invites are also rising especially in Singapore and Malaysia after a pause earlier this year due to the lockdown measures.
The group has the luxury to cherry-pick projects that will enable it to strike a balance in terms of scale and profitability to better optimise its capacity.
“Meanwhile, we will accelerate our effort in executing our enlarged outstanding orderbook of about RM902 million in a timely manner. Given our resilient orders replenishment, we are well on track to achieve a remarkable financial year,” he concluded.
