Sapura Energy CFO Reza Abdul Rahim Steps Down

Sapura Energy Berhad will see its Group Chief Financial Officer, Reza Abdul Rahim step down from his position come October 2021, he has been the CFO for the group for more than five years.

According to notice sent to Bursa, Sapura Energy cites that Reza will be leaving to pursue other opportunities. “Reza is an integral part of the Sapura Energy growth story,” said Sapura Energy Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Anuar Taib. “He helped to build the Group into the global integrated energy services and solutions provider that we are today.”

Reza joined Sapura Energy as Senior Vice President of the Offshore Construction and Subsea Services Division in 2012 and was appointed Group CFO in June 2016. He played a pivotal role in enabling Sapura Energy to gain assets and capabilities in engineering and construction, drilling and exploration and production. He was also instrumental in creating several strategic partnerships for the Group, including Sapura Navegação Marítima S.A. and SapuraOMV Upstream Sdn Bhd.

During his tenure, he led efforts to strengthen the Group’s financial position, including the previous rights issue and the recent refinancing exercise.

Prior to the merger of businesses between SapuraCrest Petroleum Group and Kencana Petroleum Group, Reza was Acting Chief Executive Officer for Oil and Gas Construction Services of SapuraCrest Petroleum, Chief Executive Officer for Energy Ventures and Operations of SapuraCrest Petroleum and Group Chief Operating Officer of Sapura Group.

Reza has experience in audit, financial management, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. Previously, he was Senior Vice President and Head of Group Corporate Finance at Axiata Group Berhad, Chief Financial Officer of Sapura Holdings Sdn Bhd and Group Financial Controller of Sapura Technology Berhad.

Andy Chew, who is currently Vice President, Group Controller will transition into the role of Acting Group Chief Financial Officer, following Reza’s departure.
