Straits Energy Signs HOA With Seashore For 4G and 5G Rollout In O&G Sector

With the 12MP clearly identifying digital adoption as the key driver for the Malaysian economy, all sectors in the country are gearing for the inevitable transformation. The massive undertaking will require experts to work out the best approach and application before embarking on the next step forward. For instance the oil and gas industry one of the most technologically advanced is also in preparation for digitalisation using modern technology coupled with the next evolution in telecommunication.

Perhaps these could be the indications that has prompte Straits Energy Resources to expand its business portfolio from oil bunkering and trading into new areas of digital solutions for the O&G sector. The company has just announced that it had entered into a Heads of Agreement with Singapore based Seashore Networks on collaboration for 4G and 5G rollout and digital transformation for the oil and gas industry.

Although this is in proposal stage, the opportunities for Straits Energy in the field of digital transformation is immense especially in areas of IOT, software, cloud and storage, the diversification could add value to its already established business model.

The 2 year old Seashore Networks has a strong focus on leveraging software to build last mile networks starting with 4G 5G. Among its expertise are virtualised radio access network software (VRAN), web-scale, cloud-native mobile network, EMS Dashboard and various other aspects of networking.

This collaboration will both parties to explore and negotiate any potential business cooperation in Malaysia or regionally.
