TNB Appoints Dato Sri Hasan Arifin As Chairman

Tenaga Nasional Berhad has appointed Dato’ Sri Hasan Arifin as its Chairman after the seat was left vacant when Dato’ Seri Mahdzir Khalid was appointed Minister of Rural Development in August.

Hasan, 68, has an illustrious profile being appointed Chairman of Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad last year and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee from 2015-2018.

The former Deputy Menteri Besar of Pahang and current Rompin Member of Parliament holds a Degree in Economics from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur and completed a Management Course at the Asian Institute of Management in Manila.

Commenting on the appointment Hassan said “I would like to thank the Ministry of Finance for the trust and belief in me for my appointment as the Chairman of TNB. As Chairman, I am responsible to all shareholders and most importantly the trustees,”.

Given his background, Hassan said he would not only continue the great work of his predecessors who had ensured a fair and reasonable return to all shareholders through dividends, but also maintain the practice of good governance, transparency and accountability.

TNB President and CEO Datuk Ir. Baharin added “On behalf of the Board of Directors, management and 35,000 employees of TNB, I welcome the appointment of Dato’ Sri Hasan to Tenaga Nasional “His wealth of knowledge and experience will be instrumental in TNB’s on-going transformation initiatives and efforts to recover from the onslaught of Covid-19.”
