12MP A Boon For IGEM

The 12th International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2021), anticipates gaining momentum with added impetus following the recent unveiling of the 12th Malaysia Plan that emphasized the advancement of green growth as one of its key focus areas.

Minister of Environment and Water, Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man says, “Malaysia’s commitment to be a carbon-neutral country as early as 2050 has the potential to attract foreign investment and show the country’s commitment to tackling climate change.

“Low-carbon investment and green technology would be able to support the country’s sustainable development agenda, as well as promote Malaysia as a green investment hub,” he says.

On the other hand, CEO of MGTC, Shamsul Bahar Mohd Nor says with the reinvigorated green agenda focus in the 12th Malaysia Plan, there is greater determination in continuing, “our efforts to redefine sustainability by supporting the country’s green initiatives during these unprecedented times through IGEM as well as through our participation at Expo 2020 Dubai, which I am certain will only further catalyse Malaysia’s thriving green economy.” 

The event is organised by the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) and co-organised by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Centre (MGTC).

For October, the IGEM 2021’s virtual site will focus on Sustainability, with the following events; Integration  of Sustainability into Business by Malaysia Green Building Council (malaysiaGBC), Climate Change Forum 2021: Low Emission Pathways by the Centre for Environment, Technology & Development, Malaysia (CETDEM), Panel Discussion on Sustainable & Circular Packaging by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Smart City Planning in Malaysia: Sharing Best Practices by Business Council for Sustainable  Development (BCSD) Malaysia, among others.
