Malaysian Groups Qualify for Facebook’s Community Accelerator Programme

Four Malaysian groups made it to Facebook’s Community Accelerator Programme out of the 131 participants across nine regions selected from more than 13,000 applicants.

This eight-month-long program provides selected community leaders of Facebook groups with training, mentorship and funding for an initiative that extends their community’s impact.

This year’s participating communities in Facebook’s Community Accelerator Programme have demonstrated impact and capacity to scale. Through the program, they will receive growth-related training, hands-on mentorship and funds to grow their community and impact.

Selected community leaders will spend the first five months learning from experts, coaches and a customized curriculum so they can organize and strengthen their community to work better together. Lessons include community identity foundations, leading action-oriented communities and sustainability.

Participants will also identify an important initiative that will create a positive impact on the broader world and develop a plan to mobilize their community around their goal. The final three months of the program will be used to execute their initiatives. They will collaborate with advocates and leaders in the community space and work with the Facebook team to bring their ideas to life.

The Community Accelerator selection committee looked for communities that would benefit most from their unique programming and have the capacity to engage fully in the program. Participants represent a diverse array of communities and address a range of global challenges, including those related to education, diversity and inclusion, equality, health and well-being and parenting.

Through the program, Facebook will be awarding over USD 7M in funding to Accelerator participants to support work that advances their communities’ goals. The  2021 Accelerator participant cohort can be found on https://www.facebook.com/community/accelerator/.

Here are the four Malaysian community pages that have made the participant list, and congratulations to them for succeeding to qualify for this programme.
