Spotlight On Malaysian Businesses: Overcoming Adversity In The Digital World

When Axstarzy DotCom started in 2012, their main motivation was to be able to provide IT solutions for clients, but the journey wasn’t an easy one, says Tommy Lee, co-founder of the IT solutions and web development company.

“There was a period of time where we were in a bottleneck, and there wasn’t enough revenue to run the company. But eventually, we made it through thankfully by sourcing new projects and being resourceful when the going was tough, which paid off,” he says.

Like other software houses, Axstarzy provides IT services, with a focus on web applications such as internal content management systems (CMS) and providing digital payment services.

“What sets us apart is the service that we provide to our clients by our not only highly skilled but personable web developers. Whenever there is an issue, our developers will respond immediately to troubleshoot and fix the situation,” Lee says.

Customer Comes First

However, being in a highly competitive industry, Lee knew that for his business to be relevant for clients, efficiency was essential. This is why his team is ever ready to assist customers who need instant responses, in fact, his company now offers troubleshooting on a 24/7 basis that is supported by his team of 30 employees and 20 developers.

Keeping with fast response as mantra, Axstarzy deploys SMS notifications as a method to be updated when transactions on the web application goes through. The company uses this service regularly and even uses them for reminders, promotions, and even e-newsletter which are sent via short messaging services. But after using third-party services for the application, Lee found a better alternative.

“Before this, we were using international SMS providers, but the issue with international SMS providers is that they are not as stable as the local providers, and they are also quite expensive.”

Surviving The Digital Crossroads

Lee says that Axstarzy has been battling the ups and downs of the IT industry for 9 years now, and while there have been many obstacles, he is committed to persevere.

Being a tech company and a technopreneur himself, the reliance on digital solution was essential for his own business. For instance, when he needed to find network providers to address certain issues his company was facing, the first thing he used was Google search. There is no excuse for any businesses not to be connected these days, regardless of the type of business they are in.

During the MCO, things were quite uncertain, not knowing how tomorrow will look like was not something he had expected ever to experience. Its during this time that innovative solutions and strategic thinking was needed, readjusting the business model and understanding customer needs helped him to come up with effective customised offerings.

The pandemic has thought a valuable lesson for many entrepreneurs, it highlighted the many areas of improvement that is needed and what can be done.

Lee concluded that in this constantly changing digital age, technology is always evolving and changing, business owners like himself must always keep up to date with the latest products and services so that he can bring higher satisfaction not only to his customers but for his own business as well.
