Selangor: Budget 2022 Will Focus On Education and Covid-19 Assistance

Selangor will be tabling its own budget in due time after the Federal Budget 2022 scheduled for end of October, in his address at a town hall session, Menteri Besar Dato Seri Amiruddin Shari emphasised that this years budget will focus on education and assistance for those impacted by Covid-19.

Undoubtedly, the state the largest economic driver for the country was also the most impacted during the lockdowns where industries suffered tremendous loses. Billions could never be recovered despite stimulus packages offered by the Government, with recovery phase kicking in an state borders about to reopen, there is glimmer of hope for some of sectors. 

Shari also reiterated that the State Government wanted to ensure that the budget this time could also move the economic sector. But the challenge will also include in how revenue can be increased to support the recovery, increasing rent or other collection will be suicidal for the Pakatan (opposition) run state with election around the corner.

In the meantime, the Menteri Besar has assured that the proposals brought by the all representatives in the state will be considered for inclusion in the budget which is now in the final stages.
