ACO Group Ventures Into Fast EV Charging Stations With Latest Investment

Distributor of electrical products and accessories, ACO Group Berhad is taking an interest in EV charging station with a 10 percent stake in EV Connection Sdn Bhd, a leading electric vehicle charging specialist.

With an immediate commitment to install a direct-current (DC) fast-charging station at its new headquarters in Johor Bahru, ACO’s 10% stake for RM1 million goes beyond financial and into real business investment. According to its filling, the new EV station will have a capacity of 180-kilowatts (kW) and is refuted to be one of the fastest charging speed stations in Malaysia and the very first in Johor, it will only take 30 minutes to charge a car, as compared to alternating current (AC) charging points that take about 6 – 10 hours for a full charge.

ACO Group’s Group Managing Director, Ir. Tang Pee Tee @ Tan Chang Kim added, “It is an exciting time in the electrical industry as green technology is picking up pace and driving demand growth for electrical supplies. Malaysia’s EV industry holds tremendous opportunities for us, and we intend to expand our involvement in the development of EV charging infrastructure via our strategic investment into EV Connection.

EV Connection is a leading one-stop electric mobility service provider specialising in EV charging solutions and EV charging stations. It is also the authorised service provider and EV charging station installer of many automakers such as Mercedes Benz, Volvo, and Hyundai as well as to Oil and gas (O&G) companies. The green technology specialist has supplied and install more than 800 EV chargers to date and owns and operates 20 EV chargers throughout Malaysia. It has the largest network of DC fast-charging stations in Malaysia.
