Reopening Of Malaysia-Singapore Border Crossing In November

Singapore plans to upgrade Malaysia to Category III from Category IV and this will allow Malaysians to serve their 10-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) at their declared place of residence or accommodation in Singapore from October 27, 2021.

The upgrading coincides with Malaysia’s Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Nancy Shukri meeting with Singapore officials scheduled for next week to discuss the opening of borders between the two countries.

Nancy reportedly said Malaysia could be opening up to international tourists including travellers from Singapore as soon as next month.

Malaysia expects to reopen its borders to foreign tourists in November. Singapore visitors to Malaysia may be among the first allowed into the country.

Nancy had told CNBC’s Street Signs Asia on Thursday that Malaysia is open to Singapore as long as Singapore is open to Malaysia.

The Minister also says she is hopeful the arrangement with Singapore might be worked out by November.

Currently, citizens from both countries are allowed to visit for emergencies in case of deaths or critical illness.
