Petronas Seeks EOI For New Pengerang LNG Storage Tank

Petronas says on Thursday it was seeking expressions of interest (EOI) for a proposed third liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tank in Pengerang.

Pengerang LNG (Two) Sdn Bhd (PLNG2), a 65 per cent subsidiary of PETRONAS Gas Bhd (PGB), is inviting participation in a non-binding EOI for the proposed new LNG storage tank.

The EOI is aimed at assisting PLNG2 in assessing the feasibility of constructing a third LNG storage tank at its existing onshore LNG Regasification Terminal in Pengerang (RGTP).

Subject to the project’s Final Investment Decision, the new storage is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025.

The proposed new facility will provide potential customers with a competitive advantage as it is strategically located along the global LNG trading routes, coupled with the availability of the existing regasification and reloading facilities.

The facility will be an effective solution to support the anticipated increase in LNG demand in Asia, as the world transitions towards a cleaner energy landscape.
