RM32.4 Billion For Ministry of Health

The Government will continue to prioritize public health aspects to build national resilience in its preparations for the endemic phase of COVID-19. The 2022 Budget provides 32.4 billion ringgit to the Ministry of Health for operating and development expenditure, says Min of Finance Tengku Zafrul Aziz.

“As a Government that cares about the well-being of its people, the allocation for the Ministry of Health is the second largest after the Ministry of Education.

“Our war with the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet. Therefore, an additional 4 billion ringgit is provided specifically to continue the agenda to address COVID-19 which includes 2 billion ringgit to fund vaccination programs,” he says.

Meanwhile, another 2 billion ringgit is provided to increase the capacity of public health service facilities such as the purchase of medicines, consumables, PPE and health kits.

In the spirit of the Malaysian Family, the Ministry of Health has also outsourced to private hospitals and hospitals supervised by other Ministries to optimize health capacity in the country.Furthermore, in order to continue to win in the fight against COVID-19, the Government intends to implement the procurement of antiviral drugs that are found to be effective against various viruses including COVID-19.
