Institut Jantung Negara broke ground on a new healthcare facility designed to enhance patient experience and employee well-being.
The new five-storey building will cover over 30,000 square metre with a contract value of RM75 mil. Among the facilities to be included are a multi-storey parking structure with space for 621 vehicles, a new kitchen, and a surau with an indoor capacity of 500 people and an outdoor capacity of 1,500 people.
Additionally, the new building will also feature a childcare centre for the benefit of IJN employees, designed to accommodate 150 children at any one time.
The project represents the first phase of IJN’s expansion plans for its centre at Jalan Tun Razak, which seeks to enhance quality healthcare for the wider community. The planned second phase of the expansion will see IJN increasing its bed capacity by 120 beds with additional adult and paediatric clinics, and retail spaces.
“As the country’s go-to centre for cardiovascular treatment and care, there is high demand for our specialised services from both within the country and international patients. This expansion signals our commitment to being at the forefront of patients’ needs by making sure our services are delivered in a welcoming, convenient and accessible environment,” said Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dr Aizai Azan Abdul Rahim, during a media briefing on the expansion project here today.
“At the same time, we must also look after the well-being of our own employees — it has always been our credence to value our talent. With the new childcare centre, we hope to give the parents among our staff greater peace of mind, as they can be assured of their children’s welfare while they are at work,” added Datuk Dr Aizai Azan.
Construction for IJN’s phase one expansion began in September and is scheduled to complete by the first quarter of 2023.
