The Malaysian aerospace industry’s readiness to rebound and strengthen the local players’ business ties with global Original Equipment Manufacturers is now made easier with the opening of the economy.
The Government has mapped out specific action plans for the aerospace industry under the 12th Malaysia Plan and Budget 2022 among which is the promotion of the industry via the Malaysia Aerospace Summit 2021 (MyAERO’21).
Spearheaded by the National Aerospace Industry Coordinating Office under the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI), the 4th edition of MyAERO’21 is organized in collaboration with The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM).
In a hybrid gathering of virtual and physical attendance, MyAERO’21 is bringing together about 500 participants of the aerospace industry community to discuss the way forward for the Malaysian aerospace industry.
Industry experts from Boeing, Embraer, Spirit AeroSystems Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines, CTRM Testing Laboratory, Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre, and IEM’s Subject Matter Experts.
Complementing the seminar were the aerospace clustering and zoning initiatives namely Negeri Sembilan Aerospace Valley and Kedah Aerotropolis, presented in both physical and virtual format.
Under the 12MP, MITI will continue to execute the 2nd phase implementation of the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 involving five main programs namely the empowerment of the National Aerospace Centre of Excellence; competency enhancement through digital systems and Industry 4.0; the development of bio-based aerospace materials; and the establishment of one-stop centre for aerospace certification.
In line with the recent Budget 2022 announcement and National Investment Aspirations, greater focus will be given to promoting and facilitating high-quality foreign direct investments into Malaysia and encouraging local players to invest in high technology industries such as the aerospace industry.
