Automotive sales at UMW Holdings Bhd increased 63.8 percent month over month (MoM) to 36,358 units in October 2021, up from 22,193 units sold in September 2021.
Following the easing of the Full Movement Control Order (FMCO) restrictions, the conglomerate said sales for its subsidiary UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd and associated company Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) have continued to recover.
UMW Toyota’s year-to-date (YTD) October 2021 sales increased by 24.7 percent to 54,618 units, up from 43,807 units in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Perodua set a new monthly sales record of 27,858 units in October, a significant improvement over the 14,160 units sold in September.
Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, president and group chief executive officer of UMW, said the company was pleased with the strong recovery shown by both UMW Toyota and Perodua in October.
“The group expects the automotive sales recovery to be sustained through November and December, supported by the introduction of new models and year-end promotions,” he said in a statement today.
